Lion dance is one of the most widely recognized Chinese cultural performances, practiced on every continent by teams of all ages and skill levels. The tradition dates back over a thousand years to the Tang Dynasty, though its exact origins are debated among historians. The real investment is time and dedication — most performers say it takes 6-12 months of regular practice to feel confident in a group routine, and 2-3 years to develop the strength and coordination for advanced moves.
